“How would you rate the importance of the following potential building blocks of corporate Idea & Innovation Management (I2M)?” Seventy-eight corporate innovators participated in the study. The outcome is telling. People and Skills ranked as the most important building block of Idea and Innovation Management, at 65 percent. This is followed by Innovation Network (41 percent), Organizational Structure (40 percent), and Innovation Portfolio (37 percent). This clearly shows that mindset, people skills, and networks are the most important elements in the innovation process—not tools or processes.
