Silicon Valley VC share deals. Same for fournders
Like Nina, other investors worldwide have noticed the same about the art of giving and sharing in Silicon Valley. Carsten Jens Maschmeyer is a German billionaire businessman, investor, and panel member of the German investment television series Die Höhle der Löwen (“The Lions’ Den”). In November 2021, he posted on LinkedIn about his startup tour in San Francisco. He mentioned four things the place does differently from Germany: 1. The deals are faster. 2. The pitches are focused on growth and vision rather than cost reduction and slow growth. 3. Startups fight hard to get more people (their motto is, “You are whom you hire!”). In Germany, on the other hand, many people think that good people are too expensive. 4. Last but not least, networking is everything. VC funds like to share their deal flow (i.e., they give first) and see where they can invest with other investors. Founders of various startups also help each other with recruiting, customer acquisition, and contacts (Maschmeyer, 2021).
